Tech industry has taken a massive blow due to coronavirus pandemic. Shipments, production and sales of the Mobile phones have taken a hit too.
Phone shipments have taken a hit especially this year, and reports suggest that the drop is likely up to 10% which might not seem a large amount but that roughly estimates to Millions of devices.
The Phone industry was going exceptionally well with all the Foldable Tech, High Refresh Rate Displays, Battery improvements and 5G until the Pandemic. This has a higher risk then one can think, this might directly affect the World Economy.
Billions of Dollars worth of phones were sold every year. The struggle might conclude probably next year if the Pandemic slows down when the World stats to recover. The virus was first detected in Wuhan, China. Asia is where this has affected most. This has a more significant impact on the entire world because Asia is where all the ICs, Memory, Screens and all the other components are produced.
This imposes a more substantial threat. Worker of a large company told that "some of the shipments are ready to be delivered, but there is no one to ship them".
Big companies such as Apple, Samsung, OnePlus might be the one who suffers the most due to this Pandemic. It would bring their quarterly sales exponentially down.
China seems to be coming back to normal where all the work appears to resume slowly, but other regions such as India, South Korea seem to be affected deeply, and all the works are temporarily on hold. It all depends on how this Pandemic turns out. Everything might turn back to normal during Christmas where all the shopping resumes.
