The Chinese manufacturer announced the update at a recent event in Beijing and later in a global launch on November 26. This time, ColorOS 7 is based on Android 10, and brings a completely revamped UI that is designed to reduce visual fatigue and offer a more pleasing color palette. Its icons are entirely customizable, too. Oppo has also added new charging animations and a three-finger screenshot gesture.

For India, Oppo has announced a new app integrated with the government’s DigiLocker service. Called DocVault, the app will help users manage and securely verify their official documents like school certificates, domicile certificates and more.

Under the hood, ColorOS 7 sees improved RAM optimization, up to 40% reduced app startup times, and offers an overall enhanced gaming experience. Oppo has also partnered with Danish sound company Episound to redesign ColorOS 7’s sound effects. These new effects will attempt to emulate the sound of the physical world around you. Oppo hopes this will make using the OS a smoother, more natural experience.
ColorOS 7 availability
The stable version of ColorOS 7 is slated to launch on the upcoming Reno 3 before Oppo releases it on other devices. Afterward, it will come to several other Reno devices by the end of 2019. Devices like the Reno, Reno 2, and Reno 10x Zoom are among that list. But the update will roll out to other Reno, Find, R, and Realme devices throughout 2020.Select Realme X2 Pro users will get to experience the ColorOS 7 Beta starting December 18. The applicants for the program can fill in their application on the Realme community page. Starting from November 27 to December 3, 2019, users from India will be recruited for the beta testing program.
Realme XT users who have already participated in the ColorOS 6.7 program will also receive ColorOS 7 beta updates by November’s end.

News of ColorOS on Oppo devices also comes a day after Realme CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed that ColorOS on Realme devices will be closer to stock Android. Furthermore, Sheth revealed a roadmap for these devices — check it out here.
